The Grimshawe House, built around 1770, holds historical and literary significance in Salem, Massachusetts. Once home to Dr. Nathaniel Peabody in the 1830s, it was here that Nathaniel Hawthorne met his future wife, Sophia Peabody. Hawthorne later immortalized the house by using it as the setting for his novel Dr. Grimshawe’s Secret.
